Just as Fane girl here was saved
from miserable poverty and malnutrition by sponsors with Abbas Rest Orphans,
you can by sponsoring an orphaned boy or a girl (ages from 2 to 9 years) by
£5 to £12 a month (again your choice) make a life saving difference.
We met in 2001 in Muona, Southern
Malawi, a beautiful baby boy of 7 months called Madah. His parents had died
and he was being looked after by his aunt. We gave the aunt 100 Kwacha,
which then was about £1.50.
The baby got ill and with the money
the aunt was able to take him to hospital. The simple cure was to give the
baby more protein. So with the rest of the money (how far can £1.50 go?) the
aunt bought dried fish, beans and grains of maize. These she took to the
mill and had them ground. The mixture was fed to the baby, who recovered.
Madah is in ARO programme now, a healthy 2 ½ year old.
